Kirby employees raise over £10,000 for charity

  • November 3, 2016

A team of 17 employees from Kirby’s UK offices took on the gruelling Welsh Three Peaks Challenge recently and in doing so, they managed to raise a staggering £10,189.23 for charity.

The money raised was donated to a number of charities including Chestnut Tree House, Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Ireland.  Two thirds of the money raised went to Chestnut Tree House, a children’s hospice based in the UK.  The donation, which is enough to fund the running of the hospice for an entire day, will go towards providing hospice care services and community support for children with life-shortening illnesses.  This donation is on top of a £2,000 donation given to Chestnut Tree House by Kirby earlier this year.

The Welsh Tree Peaks Challenge takes in the three peaks of Wales: Snowdon in the North, Cadair Idris in mid-Wales, and Pen y Fan in the South.  The Welsh Three Peaks includes a total walking distance of 17 miles (27.4km) and an ascent of around 1500 metres (4920ft), usually in less than 24-hours.

A huge well done to everyone who completed the challenge and raised money including employees from PM Group and Chestnut Tree House who joined and supported Kirby in the challenge!
