Kirby sponsors Kevin’s ‘Dream Machine’
September 6, 2016
Kirby is proud to support Kevin Gannon with his quest to raise money for his ‘dream machine’, a specialised sports chair designed specifically for Powerchair Football.
Kevin, aged 18 and a native of Dublin, is an avid fan and player of Powerchair Football. He was introduced to the sport at the age of 8 and has been hooked ever since: “At the age of 8, I was introduced to Powerchair Football by Muscular Dystrophy Ireland. This was a life changer for me, suddenly I could play a sport again, it really lifted my spirits” said Kevin.
In an effort to raise funds for the sports chair, Kevin organised a number of community events including a community festival and golf tournament. Kirby was among the proud sponsors of the community festival which raised over €3,200. As well as providing financial support, one of the Kirby team, Keith Birrane was heavily involved in organising and promoting the event.
Kevin hopes to raise enough money to purchase a new sports chair and with this, he will be able to develop his skills with the aim of making the Ireland team and representing his country at the Powerchair Football World Cup in Florida in 2017.
