PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Kirby was contracted to Siemens to undertake all electrical and instrumentation works associated with the construction of a new 842MW CCGT gas fired power station in Newport, Wales.

With manpower peaking at 100, the works undertaken by Kirby on this particular project included the installation of all electrical containment systems, MV/LV/EV cabling and terminations, instrumentation, piping and controls, bus-duct installation from the main outgoing transformers to the turbine generators and assembly of all power control centres (PCCs).

The power station was located in a remote area, which necessitated Kirby having to develop a logistics plan to accommodate and transport our labour.

SCOPE OF WORK

Kirby scope of works included the installation of all electrical and instrumentation services.
