Project Description

Brief Description

Kirby has a unique relationship with Zimmer Orthopaedics in that we manage all facets of their expansion projects in Ireland. This can entail simply bringing new utility and process services to new manufacturing pods or the complete design and build of new manufacturing facilities to cope with their production demands.

Our most demanding project to date has been the complete re-modelling of an existing 100,000sq.ft production facility to accommodate Zimmer’s second manufacturing facility in Ireland.

Principal Contractor Capacity

Kirby was appointed as Principal Contractor with overall responsibility for design, engineering and construction services. Given the scale of works involved, we engaged with design and construction partners to supplement our own in-house expertise. We directly appointed the civils/building contractor and specialist cleanroom vendor and integrated all elements of design across all services through BIM modelling and use of integrated project development (IPD) tools.

Kirby took ownership of all process and utility equipment, including positioning and alignment, and undertook all associated hook-up detail. We were also responsible for the testing and commissioning of all services ready for hand-over to our client.

Customer Satisfaction

Zimmer Orthopaedics appreciate that their core business does not revolve around facility expansions or provision of services within. In Kirby, they have a trusted partner who they know can deliver on their manufacturing needs without fail each and every time.
