PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In an effort to streamline the 132kV network at Ellesmere Port and to provide a more appropriate supply to the surrounding industrial companies, Scottish Power made the decision to build a new dual 132 kV/60 MVA transformer single switch substation.
Kirby was responsible for the electrical installation, commissioning and minor civil works associated with the project.
Once the main project was constructed and available for commissioning, Kirby was responsible for the surrounding network and linking five remote end 33kV substations into the overall protection scheme. This involved modification to live panels and a significant commissioning resource as the works in each station had to be carried out in parallel.
