PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Kirby was appointed as the main mechanical contractor on a hyperscale data centre project in Sweden for a leading cloud computing provider.

Project Celsius involved the construction of two new data centres. The mechanical scope of works included supply and install of 25,000m² of ducting to data halls, treated humidifier water system generation and distribution, CRAH units and extract fans, BMS, office areas HVAC, commissioning IST and handover over two phases.

Through effective coordination and an efficient construction schedule, all installation and commissioning works over an 18,000m² area was successfully completed in line with the allotted 32 week timeline per phase. Manpower peaked at 75.

SCOPE OF WORK

Kirby scope of works included installation and commissioning of all mechanical services.

The mechanical systems installed by Kirby included:

• Supply and Extract Ventilation Distribution
• HVAC System
• Admin BMS
• Humidifier Water
• Low Temperature Hot Water
• Water Services
• Drainage

Mechanical plant items include 30 no AHU’s, 16 no CRAH’s, 56 Roof Extract Units, 20 no pumps, 4 no tanks, 2 no UV filtration units, 2 no fuel tanks, 2 no HRU’s, 2 no admin AHU’s, 2 no side stream filtration skids and 2 no heat pumps.

The total project meterage consists of 25,000m² of ducting, 2,600m of MDPE pipework, 1,400m of copper pipework and 1,650m of stainless pipe.
