PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Kirby was appointed to deliver complete electrical and controls/instrumentation services as well as full mechanical HVAC building services and electro-chlorination piping services for a new 431MWe CCGT gas fired power plant in Cork, Ireland.
Kirby was also responsible for the detailed design of HVAC building services to conform to client functional specifications as well as the design and development of lighting and general services. Our work extended from the outgoing 500MVa transformer into the turbine hall via a 20kV bus-duct, HRSG building, control building and all the ancillary areas.
The project was successfully completed without interruption to existing generating capacity on site.
In addition to our work-scope on the new station, the end user, ESB, relied on Kirby to change out the existing station’s DCS control system for a new ABB DCS system while minimising any interference with site operations.
