PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This high density Tier 2 data centre solution for Ericsson was delivered entirely as a modular build.
Kirby was responsible for the M&E project delivery, including model coordination and off-site manufacture of the containerised data centre, all associated civil works and complete integrated systems testing and commissioning.
Kirby prefabricated modularised switch rooms and all associated cabling, testing and pre-commissioning was completed off site, which reduced on-site labour, minimised disruption and allowed the construction programme to be optimised due to efficiency of factory build environments. The modular data centre was then delivered using JIT approach and craned to the site location out of-hours to further avoid any end-user operational disruptions.
The containerised data centre was manufactured in parallel with CSA works, reducing scheduled and on-site hours significantly.
This modular approach facilitated a 3 month project completion programme and generated 12.5% man-hour savings.
SCOPE OF WORK
Kirby scope of works included the installation and commissioning (level 1 to 5) of all electrical, mechanical and CSA services.
