PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Kirby completed the full HV electrical installation of all HV apparatus for the new 400kV 1,000MW HVDC Interconnector.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Kirby was responsible for the electrical scope of works.

The electrical systems installed by Kirby included:
• 400kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear, AC
• Full Control System and Equipment
• Station Service LV AC Switchgears
• Motor Control Centre (MCC)
• Medium Voltage Switchgears (MVS)
• 48 V Battery System
• 110/230 V Battery System Incl. Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)
• Outdoor Distribution and Junction Boxes
• Stand-by Power System (Diesel Generator System)
• ROXTEC cable sealings
• Fibre Optic Cables
• All Transit System for LV, MV Cable (Cableways, Cable Sealings etc.)
• Valve Cooling Equipment including Pump and treatment units
• Piping System
• Outdoor Coolers
• Steel Structure including Aluminium Rigid Bus Work

Installed plant items included 10 no. distribution boards, 150 no. control and protection panels, 4 no. battery systems, 4 no. transformers and 3 no. bays 400kV AC GIS.
The total project meterage consisted of 85km of LV cable and 50+ no. of terminations.
