We have adopted a process of continual improvement in health and safety, applying the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 EHS Management Systems and we have been accredited by Achilles UVDB.

Quality

Quality at Kirby is more than just a set of procedures; it’s a culture committed to ‘Getting it Right First Time’. Our Quality Management System is independently verified and continuously under review. Our dedicated Inspection and Testing Department ensures that finished products are defect-free; of the highest quality; conform to all standards and regulations; and meet or exceed our clients’ expectations.

Key Quality Achievements:

  • ISO 9001:2015: Kirby were one of the first construction-related companies to receive ISO 9001 accreditation. Today we hold ISO 9001:2015 accreditation across all services and geographic regions, including electrical, mechanical, power, calibrations and communications.
  • Beyond ISO 9001: Kirby has developed its quality management procedures beyond ISO 9001 to conform to work in GMP and FDA-regulated environments.
  • Q-Mark Standard: Kirby have achieved the internationally-recognised Q-Mark Quality Management System Certification – a business excellence framework which demonstrates our commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement at all levels of our business.
  • Achilles UVDB Verify: In 2008, Kirby secured Achilles UVDB registration.
    Kirby also hold Achilles RISQS, Achilles Sellihca (Nordic Utilities), Achilles Power & Tech Community and Achilles Supply Line certification for supply-chain procurement.
  • Lloyd’s Register: Kirby has been accepted onto the Lloyds National Electricity Registration Scheme in the UK as a Utility Connection Provider for contestable works up to 132kV
    SEK, Elsäkerhetsverket: Kirby has been accepted onto the Swedish National Electricity Registration Scheme as a certified Electrical Company for works up to 1kV.
    ATEX Certification: Kirby have +20Nr. CompEx certified Atex Inspectors in-house, whom can perform Atex Inspections to the current Atex Directive 2014/34/EU.

Innovation and Lean

Kirby culture is driven by innovation, efficiency, waste elimination and meeting our customers’ needs at minimum cost each and every time. Lean practices and processes have become critical components of our project delivery, which bring significant value to us and our customers.

At Kirby, we operate an Innovation Suggestion Scheme, where participation is encouraged among all of our workforce. This approach allows us to continuously generate innovative / lean ideas from our site and office employees. The suggestions are focused around introducing efficiencies into the business by continuously improving the site conditions and the quality of our services. This system allows us to continuously add value and generate savings on our clients’ projects.
