May 26, 2016
Jennifer Aherne, HR development officer at Kirby, was awarded an outstanding contribution award from Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) for her outstanding contribution to their Schools’ Business Partnership programme.
Jennifer has been involved in the Schools’ Business Partnership programme for over eight years, during which she has managed and developed Kirby’s participation in the programme, particularly in the Limerick region. Recently, she has overseen the development of the programme to include schools in Dublin and Galway.
Jennifer was presented with the award during a recent BITCI event where she joined a panel of experts to discuss the positive impact of the School’s Business Partnership programme and how the business community can support schools and students now and in the future.
Speaking at the event, Jennifer said: ‘Kirby has been involved in the Schools’ Business Partnership programme for over eight years and the benefits have been twofold; the students whom we work with benefit from our employees’ skills and expertise and our employees get the opportunity to further develop their skills whilst contributing to the local community.’
‘Our involvement in the programme has had significant impact with a considerable number of students choosing to further their education while others joined our apprenticeship programme. I would encourage all businesses to get involved’ continued Jennifer.
