PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Kirby was appointed as lead mechanical services contractor on a new 100,000sq.ft aseptic processing vial fill/finish facility for Allergan.
 
The project included the installation of mechanical services in ISO 5, ISO 7 and ISO 8 validated cleanrooms, technical areas, plant rooms, packaging, cold stores, warehousing and administration areas and involved the fabrication and installation of 18,000m² of Grade C ductwork and 20,000m of piping systems. Another key element of this project involved positioning €32m of free issue client equipment. Craft labour on site peaked at 120.
 
Kirby acted as the lead coordinator of all MEP services using BIM remit. 3D BIM co-ordination ensured clash points were detected early and solutions put in place.

Installed plant items included 16 no. AHU’s, 2 no, lyophiliser’s, isolators and filling line, vial washer, sterilisation tunnel, VHP air-wash pass throughs, LAF’s, stopper processor, capping machine, WFI still, purified water vessels, clean steam generators, process utility skids and pump systems, 2 no. 8,000kg/hr steam boilers, 20 no. MCC panels, 3 no. 1,300kW chillers, 1 no. 1,250kW dry cooler, 3 no. 1,250kW LPHW boilers and 3 no. 55kW compressors.
 
The total project meterage consisted of 10,500m of black utilities pipework, 1,000m of plastic pipework, 2,500m of copper pipework, 5,200m of clean utilities pipework, 800m of product pipework and 18,000m² of class C galvanised and spiral ductwork to DW144 standard.
