PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Allergan, a leading pharmaceutical company invested €42m in its Irish operations to increase production capacity.
Kirby was responsible for the installation and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical services for the Pilot Plant and BIM Ring Facility in Dublin. Kirby implemented 3D BIM co-ordination which ensured successful project delivery. Kirby acted as PSCS for both projects and also performed the Construction Management role on the BIM Ring project.
SCOPE OF WORK
Kirby was responsible for the installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical works.
The electrical systems installed by Kirby included:

• General Service Power
• Mechanical Plant Service Power
• Fire Detection and Alarm
• Access Control, Intruder and CCTV
• Earthing and Bonding
• Voice and Data Distribution

• Atex Zone 2/22 Installation and Atex Inspections
• Vendor Cabling Installation
The mechanical systems installed by Kirby included:
• Chilled Water
• Low Pressure Hot Water System
• Supply and Extract Ventilation Distribution
• DWS
• BMS
• QBMS
• NQBMS
• Trox VAV and CAV’s
• Clean Steam
• Wash In Place (WIP)
• Lab Purified Water
• Process Water

The existing LPHW boiler, header and control system and CHW header was replaced. Kirby installed a new 1,040kW chiller and 2 no 1,200kW boilers.
The total project meterage consisted of 33,000m of cable, 1,300m of containment, 414 I/O points; 1,386m black utilities pipework, 258m of plastic pipework, 906m of copper pipework, 987m of 2 clean pipework and 3,170m² ductwork.
