PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Kirby was awarded the contract for the electrical infrastructure requirements for the Kilgallioch Windfarm. The Windfarm covers an area of 33km² and is located 3km south of Barrhill, South Ayrshire in Scotland. It comprises of 96 number Wind Turbine Generators (WTG’s) capable of generating an output of up to 289MW to be exported to the grid network.
The principal works carried out under this contract were the design, supply, construction and commissioning of all electrical and SCADA infrastructure works associated with the installation of 96 no. WTGs, substation section control building, windfarm 33kV cabling, fiber optic cabling and 3 number meteorological masts.

• Voice & Data Distribution
Kirby scope of works included construction and commissioning of the following works:
• MV Cable Connection System
• Fibre Network
• Distribution Underground Cables
Installed plant items included 3 number transformers, 3 number switchgear systems, 1 number house services board, 96 number control & protection panels, 3 number battery systems, disconnectors and earth switches, LVAC/LVDC plant.
The total project meterage consisted of 148km of cable.
