PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Kirby was appointed to complete the mechanical, electrical and GC2 scope of works for the expansion of cleanroom facilities for MGS Manufacturing.
The 4,600m² project was built within their pre-existing facility in Kildare, Ireland.
BIM was implemented to coordinate early contractor engagement and the removal of existing busbar.
SCOPE OF WORKS
Kirby was responsible for the electrical, mechanical and GC2 scope of works.
The electrical systems installed by Kirby included:
- LV Distribution
- General & Emergency Lighting
- General Service Power
- Mechanical Plant Service Power
- Fire Detection & Alarm
- Access Control, Intruder & CCTV
- Earthing & Bonding
- Voice & Data Distribution
The mechanical systems installed by Kirby included:
- Strip out of existing concrete floor slab and existing secondary steel
- Installation of isolated concrete pad foundations for new crane system
- Pour 200mm floor slab to an FM2 floor classification finish
- Supply and install structural steel for new mezzanine floor
- Supply and installation of clean room rapid roller doors, vision panels and pass-through hatches
- Installation of cleanroom panels
- Construction of new Ancillary Area including offices, stores, 3D printer room and tool room
- Installation of ceiling grid and tiles
- Installation of MC-Dur anti-static and anti-slip epoxy resin floor finish
Installed equipment and plant items included Distribution Panels, Lighting, Emergency Lighting, Fire Alarm Vesda Systems, 2 nr. CHW Re-Circ Pumps, 1 nr. Pressurisation Unit, 1 nr. Heat Exchanger, 2 nr. Dx Units, 1 nr. Automated Chemical Dosing Unit and 1 nr. Water Softener Skid.
The total mechanical and electrical meterage included 78,000m of cable, 6,000m of containment, 30m of impulse piping, 1,600 instruments and loops, 7,000m of pipework and 2,200m² of ductwork.
