PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Brown Forman invested €44m in Slane Castle, County Meath. The investment included the construction of a new distillery, co-products building and visitors centre.

Kirby was responsible for installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical services within the distillery, co-products building and the visitors centre.

Kirby implemented Business Information Modelling in order to successfully integrate all elements of design across services and ensure high quality installation.

Installed plant items included pot stills, washbacks, stainless steel vessel, spirit receiver, MV/LV boards, generator, boilers, pumps, water treatment plant, BMS panels, UFH, air conditioning, extract fans, compressors.

The total project meterage included 131,716m of cable, 4,300m of containment, 705 no. instruments, 618 no. loops, 258 no. calibrations, 37m impulse piping, 815 no. of I/O points, 1,200m of black utilities pipework, 180m of plastic pipework, 1,111m of copper pipework, 3,600m of clean utilities pipework and 400m² of ductwork.
