PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Telecity Group were converting an existing warehouse facility in Dublin to a 6MW Tier 3 designed Data Centre and Kirby was appointed as lead design and build MEP contractor, with manpower peaking at 120 people.
Kirby also led the 3D model development and coordination for the project. We utilised Autodesk Naviswork and Revit to produce a fully integrated live federated model. Daily clash detection reports were developed to manage the coordination process with our CSA partners. We used an in-house 3D point cloud scanner to import all existing site conditions and configurations into the 3D model and thereafter designed all services to a 25mm tolerance. Overhead powerlines meant the installation of major equipment also had to be factored into the design.
Limited space on-site drove the requirement for off-site fabrication. Kirby pre-fabricated 90% of the pipework off-site using isometrics produced directly from the model. Individual spools were shipped to site for assembly thereby minimising the need for on-site welding.
Kirby was also responsible for the development and execution of complete level 1 to level 5 commissioning plan including development of scripts and the documentation of the IST.
